Important Notice Regarding the "Patent Document COD Scam"

Recently, our bureau received feedback from the public that many companies and patent agencies received a COD (Cash On Delivery) express mail from "Nanshan District Nanshan Street Intellectual Property Service Center, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province", with the name "Patent Certificate", and the COD amount was 25 or 30 yuan. The content of the mail was a tampered official notice from the State Intellectual Property Office. This express mail is unrelated to the Patent Office of the State Intellectual Property Office. All official documents from the Patent Office of the State Intellectual Property Office are sent via registered mail with prepaid postage, and have never been sent via express delivery with COD. Please inform the public of the above situation. If a similar situation occurs, please contact us immediately.

Announcement of the State Intellectual Property Office on Adjustments to Trademark Payment Procedures

To implement the requirements of trademark facilitation reform, further simplify the trademark business payment process, promote the electronic reform of fiscal vouchers, and unify the payment methods for various trademark businesses, it has been decided to adjust the relevant matters of the trademark business payment process. The announcement is as follows: I. Setting up a payment notification process For trademark applications submitted after December 30, 2019, a payment notification process will be added before the acceptance of the application and the subsequent approval of the business, realizing payment after notification. Trademark parties and agencies should pay the trademark fees within 15 days from the date of receipt of the payment notice. The format of the payment notice is shown in the attachment. II.

Combating Malicious Trademark Registration to Help Optimize the Business Environment. The Trademark Office of the State Intellectual Property Office of China held a seminar on the review practices of combating malicious trademark registration in Beijing.

On December 20, the Trademark Office of the State Intellectual Property Office of China held a seminar on the practical examination of combating malicious trademark registration in Beijing. Xia Qing, a second-level inspector of the Trademark Office of the State Intellectual Property Office, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. More than 200 representatives from enterprises and trademark agencies were invited to participate in the event. At the meeting, the Trademark Office introduced the measures and achievements in the reform of trademark registration facilitation and the fight against malicious trademark registration, interpreting the practical examination of combating malicious registration from different perspectives of examination, opposition, and review. The meeting invited judges from the Beijing Intellectual Property Court to explain the law with cases and in-depth interpretation of cases of judicial procedures to combat malicious registration. The meeting discussed the lawful operation of trademark agencies.
